I am a Visiting Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Informatics of De Montfort University and a part-time Lecturer in ABMS, the open University of Switzerland.  I obtained the B.Sc. (M.Sc. equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1998, M.Sc. in Industrial Production and Management from University of Thessaly in 2004 and M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from University of Thessaly, in 2008 and 2014 respectively.

From March of 2015 until June of 2016 i was a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Informatics of De Montfort University conducting research in the Cyber Security CentreDuring 2014 I was a Reseach Fellow at University of Surrey, Department of Computing, on the FP7 CockpitCI project. My research focused on improving the resilience and dependability of Critical Infrastructures (CIs) by the automatic detection of cyber-threats and the sharing of real-time information about attacks among CI owners. 

I have participated in various research programs investigating vehicular and ICT technologies (C4C-project.eureduction-project.eu), sustainable development (islepact.eu, smilegov), cyber security (cockpitci.eu, fastpass-project.eu) and optimization and prediction of the dielectric behavior of air gaps (optithesi.webs.com). My research interests include wireless sensor networks and vehicular ad hoc networks.   

I serve as Deputy Editor in Chief on EAI Transactions on Security & Safety. I also serve on the Editorial Board of several International peer-reviewed journals such as IEEE Access,  Wiley Jounral on Security & Communication NetworksEAI Transactions on e-LearningEAI Transactions on Industrial Networks and Intelligent SystemsInternational Journal of Vehicular Telematics and Infotainment Systems (IJVTIS) and International Journal of Network Security & Its Applications (IJNSA).  I am currently General (co-)Chair of INISCOM 2016, a new, annual, EAI and Springer sponsored conference on industrial networks and intelligent systems.

I am a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). I am member of the IEEE P61158 – Standard for Industrial Hard Real-Time Communication Working Group.  The main task of this WG is the adoption of Ethernet Powerlink Standards Group (EPSG) DS 301 – Ethernet Powerlink – Communications Profile Specification as an IEEE Standard.
